After you have received your dentures, it may sometimes be necessary for our dentist to provide you with repairs or other denture maintenance. Dr. Philip Beyer will examine your dentures during your dental exams to ensure that they fit and function properly, and if needed, we will provide any maintenance that may be necessary. Denture Relines
As your gums change over time, your dentures will periodically need to be relined to ensure that they remain stable and secure in your mouth. There are several different types of relines that our dentist may recommend:

  • Hard reline — A hard reline should be provided every two years and involves removing and replacing the layer of plastic from the interior surface of your dentures so that it matches the shape of your gums.
  • Soft reline — Soft relines are usually recommended for patients who are unable to wear regular dentures due to tenderness or sore spots, and they work by replacing the interior denture lining with a more pliable and comfortable material. A soft reline will need to be replaced every one to two years.
  • Temporary relines — A temporary reline may be recommended to help inflammation in your mouth subside and will be replaced with a hard or soft reline after your gums have recovered.

Denture Rebasing
Denture rebasing is recommended when the base material of your denture is worn out. A rebasing can be provided even when the teeth of the denture are in good condition, as it works to replace the base without replacing the entire appliance. Rebasing is usually provided when dentures are broken, damaged or weakened.
